RVWRMP World Toilet Day 2020 Activity Report

In 2020, RVWRMP celebrated World Toilet Day (19.11.) for one whole week starting from 17th of November until the 23rd. During this time, Project field teams visited households in scheme areas, observed toilet conditions and overall household sanitation status and discussed with inhabitants what is needed to improve their hygiene.

The focus on observing actual household toilet conditions rather than just holding a ceremony is what makes this kind of work stick, and I appreciated that the teams sat down with families to figure out what improvements were realistic for them. It reminded me how often sanitation programs fail because they skip that follow-up conversation.
